Inverse p-median problems with variable edge lengths

چکیده
The inverse p-median problem with variable edge lengths on graphs is to modify the edge lengths at minimum total cost with respect to given modification bounds such that a prespecified set of p vertices becomes a pmedian with respect to the new edge lengths. The problem is shown to be strongly NP-hard on general graphs and weakly NP-hard on series-parallel graphs. Therefore, the special case on a tree is considered: It is shown that the inverse 2-median problem with variable edge lengths on trees is solvable in polynomial time. For the special case of a star graph we suggest a linear time algorithm.

The inverse $p$-maxian problem on trees with variable edge lengths
We concern the problem of modifying the edge lengths of a tree in minimum total cost so that the prespecified p vertices become the p-maxian with respect to the new edge lengths. This problem is called the inverse p-maxian problem on trees. Gassner proposed efficient combinatorial alogrithm to solve the the inverse 1-maxian problem on trees in 2008. For the problem with p ≥ 2, we claim that the...

متن کاملAn inverse approach to convex ordered median problems in trees
The convex ordered median problem is a generalization of the median, the k-centrum or the center problem. The task of the associated inverse problem is to change edge lengths at minimum cost such that a given vertex becomes an optimal solution of the location problem, i.e., an ordered median. It is shown that the problem is NP-hard even if the underlying network is a tree and the ordered median...
متن کاملThe uniqueness theorem for inverse nodal problems with a chemical potential
In this paper, an inverse nodal problem for a second-order differential equation having a chemical potential on a finite interval is investigated. First, we estimate the nodal points and nodal lengths of differential operator. Then, we show that the potential can be uniquely determined by a dense set of nodes of the eigenfunctions.
متن کاملCombinatorial algorithms for inverse absolute 1-center location problems on trees
In an inverse network absolute (or vertex) 1-center location problem the parameters of a given network, like edge lengths or vertex weights, have to be modified at minimum total cost such that a prespecified vertex s becomes an absolute (or a vertex) 1-center of the network. In this article, the inverse absolute and vertex 1-center location problems on unweighted trees with n + 1 vertices are c...
